Wi-Fi (pronunciation: /ˈwaɪfaɪ/, French pronunciation: /wifi/), also known in Chinese as "mobile hotspot", is a Wi-Fi Alliance manufacturer's trademark for product branding, and is a wireless local area network (WLAN) technology created under the IEEE 802.11 standard.

With the release of the latest 802.11 ax standard, the name of the new WiFi standard will also be defined as WiFi6, because the current 802.11 ax is the sixth generation of WiFi standards, the WiFi Alliance will define the ax standard after the original 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac as WiFi6, so that it can also append the previous 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac as WiFi1/2/3/4/5 in turn. b/g/n/ac as WiFi1/2/3/4/5.
The 2.4GHz band supports the following standards (802.11b/g/n/ax) and the 5GHz band supports the following standards (802.11a/n/ac/ax), which means that 802.11n/ax operates in both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, and is therefore compatible with both standards.
