I: Overview of the project background
An industrial automation group in Zhejiang has been committed to meeting the industrial digitalization needs of the process industry, based on the automation control system, focusing on the development of digitalization-related industrial software technology and products, forming intelligent manufacturing solutions with multi-industry characteristics, and realizing efficient automated production and intelligent management of industrial enterprises. In its newly-built modern factory workshop, it also strives to build a customized intelligent factory complex and endeavors to build a leading intelligent factory cluster industrial park in China.
The group's finished goods warehouse and FAT site currently has 1,753 storage spaces with an area of 0.9*0.9 meters, and these large numbers of storage spaces are used for storage and circulation of cabinets. Due to the similarity and large number of cabinets, the group has always had major pain points in inventory and warehouse management. Therefore, in order to achieve management flexibility, synchronized with the "efficiency, cost reduction, ease of use and lean" as the guide, the location of digital technology as an entry point, so as to achieve automation changes in inventory and warehouse management.

II: Current management pain points
- The number of cabinets is large and similar, making them difficult to find;
- Paper library codes are easily damaged;
- It is difficult for transportation workers to enforce that they must scan the code to get out of the warehouse;
- Information on cabinet moves, transitions, etc., is difficult to maintain track of;
III: UWB-based solutions
In order to solve the above "necklace" problem, and to ensure the real-time and accurate location of cabinets, the group deployed UWB positioning base stations in its finished goods warehouse and FAT sites. The group deployed Hainan Shidian UWB positioning base stations in its finished goods warehouse and FAT site, and at the same time bound positioning tags for each cabinet in the warehouse. When the cabinet is placed in the designated storage space, the positioning base station collects the data from the positioning tags and transmits it to the LS1000 positioning engine via wired Ethernet for data analysis and processing, so as to continuously obtain the location information of the cabinet. Then it is transmitted to the upper WMS system through the open API interface. In the WMS application layer, the group has developed application sub-modules such as three-dimensional visualization management interface; cabinet location and information query; inventory view and dynamic update; and multi-dimensional early warning and control.

Based on Web3D technology, the warehouse is digitally modeled to visually display the precise location, basic information and status of the warehouse information and cabinets in each area of the finished goods warehouse and FAT site.

2: Cabinet location and information query
The UWB positioning system is bound and associated with the PDA, and the WMS system receives the task work order, batch number, cabinet information, etc. in real time through the interface, so as to reduce the loss of information due to the damage of the paper library code.
Management personnel can also be based on the cabinet code, cabinet name and other information, quickly find the location of the storage space where the cabinet is stored, saving manpower to manually find time.
3: Inventory view and dynamic update
On the WMS system, you can view in real time the number and status of cabinets stored in the Finished Goods Store and the FAT site. This information will be updated in real time according to the dynamics of the cabinets in and out of the warehouse.
4: Multi-dimensional early warning controls
Through a variety of warning settings such as upper and lower limits for cabinet storage, cabinet storage position calibration, etc., differentiated by different colors, the cabinet position misplacement is reduced and first-in-first-out (FIFO) is achieved.
IV: Summary of project applications
In the era of industrial digitalization, healthy digital transformation is driven by value. For Zhejiang the automation group, a set of 3D visualization positioning system established based on UWB positioning technology, through the connection with WMS system, change the traditional manual management cabinet mode, rapid cabinet position calibration and misplaced early warning, release the real value behind the data, improve the efficiency of the warehouse management operations, and truly realize the enterprise operation and management of the reduction of costs and increase efficiency.
