I. Programmatic background

In the fields of industrial automation, Internet of Things (IoT) and remote device monitoring, efficient communication and stable control between devices are crucial. Nowadays, there are two core requirements in the relevant scenarios: one is to continuously monitor the stability of local TCP/UDP data transmission, and once encountered anomalies, it can automatically trigger the restart of the equipment; and the other is to support remote power-on/power-off control of the equipment through the network, so as to improve the efficiency of operation and maintenance.

The combination of WE-E200 serial server and RS485 digital input/output module launched by Hainan Shidian Technology accurately meets the above demands with the linkage logic of "serial port to network protocol + relay power control". The program is applicable to industrial sensors, intelligent devices, remote monitoring terminals and other scenarios, providing a reliable technical support for the intelligent management and remote operation and maintenance of equipment.

III. Product Features

(i) Data transmission and processing

Supporting multiple network protocols and serial port types, it can realize data conversion and transmission between different devices, such as converting RS485 sensor data to UDP and uploading it to the cloud, which meets the needs of real-time data collection and transmission. Meanwhile, it supports multi-socket communication (up to 5), which can monitor the TCP/UDP connection status of multiple devices at the same time and improve the efficiency of device management.

(ii) Monitoring of equipment status

1. Local Timeout Response and Abnormal Reboot 

The system monitors the UDP/TCP communication status in real time, and when UDP timeout or data transmission abnormality (e.g. packet loss rate ≥ 5%) is detected, the relay is controlled by Modbus command to force restarting the power of the device (closed for 5 seconds and then disconnected). Supports 1-3 automatic retries, and failure locks the fault. It can quickly recover the disconnection problem of industrial sensors, cameras and other devices, and reduce the cost of manual inspection. 

2. Remote power control 

The host computer forwards Modbus commands through WE-E200 to remotely control relays and realize equipment power-up/power-down. It supports multi-device batch operation and permission grading, and the commands are encrypted with AES to ensure security. Suitable for distributed scenarios such as smart grid and security clusters, compression of fault response from "hourly" to "minute", significantly improving operation and maintenance efficiency.

(iii) Secure encryption

TLS v1.2, AES, DES3 and other security protocols are used to encrypt the data, preventing it from being stolen or tampered with during transmission and ensuring its security and integrity.

V. Product usage scenarios

(i) Remote monitoring of industrial equipment

In the factory production line, sensor data is collected.WE-E200 converts RS485 sensor data to UDP and uploads it to the cloud, and if the cloud does not receive the data after a period of time, it will automatically restart the power supply of the sensor to ensure the continuity of the data collection.WE-E200 supports multi-socket communication, and it can monitor the TCP/UDP connection state of multiple devices at the same time, and in case of abnormality, it can quickly restore the connection of devices through relays to improve the stability and efficiency of the production line. WE-E200 supports multi-socket communication and can monitor the TCP/UDP connection status of multiple devices simultaneously.

(ii) Smart grid equipment operation and maintenance

WE-E200 is used for substation UPS power status monitoring, reading data in real time through Modbus TCP. When encountering communication interruption, it will automatically restart the UPS communication module, and at the same time, it supports remote manual reset to protect the normal operation of power grid equipment.The AES encryption function of WE-E200 can ensure the security of data in the transmission process, and the 10A relay of the relay can meet the demand of power control for high-power equipment, which can adapt to the high requirements of the smart grid on the reliability and security of the equipment.

(iii) Security and environmental monitoring

The smart camera cluster is connected to the LAN through WE-E200, and the relay controls the camera power supply. When the interruption of UDP video stream is detected, the faulty devices are automatically restarted cyclically to ensure the stable operation of the security system.The Auto-IP function of WE-E200 supports fast networking in a DHCP-free environment, which is convenient for the deployment of security devices; the hardware watchdog of the relay module ensures the reliability of the relay control and guarantees the normal operation of the cameras and other devices.

(iv) Other potential scenarios

The solution can also be applied to intelligent transportation equipment monitoring, smart home equipment management, agricultural IoT equipment remote control and other scenarios, providing a universal solution for equipment intelligence and remote operation and maintenance in different fields. By flexibly expanding the number of relay channels (up to 48 relays), it can be easily expanded to large-scale equipment cluster management to meet the needs of projects of different sizes.
